When we repipe a customer’s home, we recommend two types of pipes — copper and PEX (cross-linked polyethylene). Both pipes have their pros and cons. Our recommendation depends on your needs and local water quality.
PEX - Pros & Cons
- Pro: More cost-effective to install
- Pro: Flexible and easy to install in tight spaces
- Pro: Resistant to corrosion
- Pro: Requires fewer fittings, reducing leak risks
- Con: Doesn’t last as long as copper
- Con: Flow restriction possible depending on fittings
- Con: Not typically recommended for outdoor use
Copper - Pros & Cons
- Pro: Can last longer than PEX under ideal conditions
- Pro: More environmentally friendly
- Con: More expensive to install (material and labor)
- Con: Susceptible to corrosion from hard or acidic water
- Con: Can be prone to freezing
The right choice depends on your specific requirements, budget, and long-term goals. Either way, we back our repiping service with a reliable warranty.
